This is yet another innovative product in our line-up.
This is a new twist on the standard MIA (Media Interface Adapter), which converts from the copper interface of Fibre Channel disk drives, to an optical interface, which allows for placing the drive array a large distance from the host.
This MIA allows for a very clean install, utilizing a PC case. Drives are mounted inside the case, and with the "PCI MIA" installed in an available slot, all that is exposed is an optical SC connector. Internally, the DB9 female connector on the PCI MIA connects to T-Cards or mini-backplanes with a standard DB9-DB9 copper Fibre Channel cable.
The advantage of using the PCI MIA is that copper cabling length is not really an issue, since all of the copper interconnects are internal to the PC case.
Note that the 4-pin floppy drive power connector must be connected to a power source in order for the PCI MIA to function. The LED indicates when power has been applied, and does not necessarily indicate the status of the Fibre Channel loop.
